Athens Health & Safety ...
Athens is one of the safest capital Cities in the World you can go almost anywhere day or night in complete safety. Even so you should keep a close eye on your personal possessions in busy areas and especially on the metro or buses, beware of pickpockets! there are many money belts etc available and well worth the small cost. When you're walking around do be careful of the many motorbikes, scooters and even cars that don't always follow safe driving laws. Particularly on cross-walks they do like to stop there, pedestrians definitely do not have the right of way in Athens.
Shops are open from 09:00 till 14:30 Mon, Wed, Sat
and open again at 17:00 till 20:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Tourist Shops in Plaka & other tourist area's etc are open all day including Sunday. Banks are open Monday to Friday 08:00 till 14:30.
