Katakolon is the port where cruise ships dock so that passengers may visit the ancient site of Olympia which is 38km (24 miles) away. Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic games and where the Olympic Torch ceremony is held, 11 'Vestal Virgins' kindle the flame to ignite the torch using only the power of the Sun. Then the flame starts it's long journey to the host country carried by many people and through countless places until it arrives at it's destination.
The drive to Olympia from Katakolon will take about 40 minutes or so through beautiful scenery mostly agricultural, when we arrive you take a short walk from the parking lot to the entrance, purchase your ticket and enjoy the wonders of the site & Museum.
After your visit there will be time to explore the town of Olympia then we will make our way back to the cruise ship stopping somewhere for lunch & photo's.
